Ole Gunnar Solskajer has made it clear that he will focus on the young talent available at Man United in order to bring back the glory days. And honestly, this isn’t the first time some manager has tried to do such a thing at Old Trafford.

The Norwegian boss has offloaded heavyweights such as Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez without bothering to bring in replacement which is a clear indication that the likes of Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong will get to feature regularly during the course of the season.

In defence, Man United might have roled in the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire but the manager has also chosen to retain a player like Axel Tuanzebe.

And many fans, as well as pundits, believe this use of youngsters is what will bring back success to Old Trafford.

But former Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger clearly thinks otherwise.

The Frenchman recently claimed that Man United’s recent bunch of youngsters do have potential but as of now they are not ready to challenge for the Premier League title.

‘When you see Man United they are one of the examples where there is a potential there,’ he told beIN Sports(as quoted by The Metro).

‘But they have not found a collective way. Maybe these players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man United altogether.

‘That’s the big question mark now. You feel there is something coming out but it’s not ready.

‘That’s why I say when you watch them play they are not candidates to fight for the championship. Will they emulate what Giggs, Scholes, Beckham did over a number of years? Personally I’m not convinced.’

Verdict:

No one really expects Man United to challenge for the title this season or even for the upcoming one.

Right now Solskjaer’s only goal is to take the club back to the Champions League and if he can achieve that by next May then this will be more than a successful season for the Red Devils.

As for challenging the likes of Man City and Liverpool for the title, it might take close to half a decade before Man United are actually ready for that.
