Arsenal go into the Sheffield United match with a series of injury concerns and it looks like the name of Lucas Torreira has been added to that.

Lucas Torreira has been playing on and off for the Gunners this season but under new boss Mikel Arteta, the midfielder seems to be ahead in the pecking order alongside Granit Xhaka.

Now though it looks like the player has picked up an injury and right now is a doubt for the clash against the Blades this weekend in the Premier League.

Speaking to the press, Arteta has confirmed that the Uruguayan’s injury is not a serious one but he will have to go through a late fitness test in order to determine his availability.

The Gunners boss told in the press conference: “Very similar situation. He trained yesterday as well, but still not 100 per cent confident so we will have to wait and see again.

“It is something related to his hip, producing some pain in the muscle. I don’t know.

“He is a tough boy, he wants to train, he wants to play and hopefully, he will be available for the weekend.”

If Lucas Torreira does indeed miss out then it will be a big personal blow for the player since he seems to have found renewed confidence after the arrival of his new manager.

For Arsenal though, Arteta need not worry too much since Matteo Guendouzi is a like-to-like replacement for Torreira and the young Frenchman can partner Granit Xhaka in case of the former’s absence.

But if Torreira is ruled out then surely the manager will have some concerns since the Blades are very good at dominating games and Arteta would have wanted someone who has the ability to nick possession in key areas.
