Manchester United are preparing to take on Everton in the Premier League next weekend and right before this game, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez have returned to training.

Earlier this season, Lisandro Martinez had surgery to solve his metatarsal injury and he’s been recovering ever since. However, the centre-back has been seen back at Carrington this week which is a big boost for manager Erik ten Hag.

Luke Shaw is another key defender who has been missing for around three months which had forced Man United to sign Sergio Reguilon on a loan spell but United have confirmed that the left-back has also reported back to training.

Luke Shaw has been training with the main group which means he is fully fit and should be in line to be in the matchday squad this weekend against the Toffees.

Martinez, however, is still a few weeks away from his return as the manager has claimed that the defender along with Casemiro won’t be back before next month.

“Casemiro and Martinez are really strong injuries. I don’t expect them back before Christmas,” Erik ten Hag had recently said(h/t Fotmob).

Martinez and Jonny Evans are out injured while Raphael Varane has fallen down the pecking order so it seems like Maguire and Lindelof will pair up in central defence vs Everton.

Luke Shaw, if fit enough, to start will come straight into the left-back role which is going to be a welcome sight for the Man United manager because the England international is one of the major ballplayers in the backline and he alongside Lisandro Martinez was originally entrusted to start playing out from the back.
