Man City were able to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League last weekend which has helped them maintain their charge of the league title this season.

Right now, the Citizens are nine points behind leaders Liverpool and hopefully, they will be able to maintain this since their next match will be against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The Magpies lost their previous league encounter but during the past few weeks, Steve Bruce has certainly brought a sense of upliftment to the side which will certainly be put to test when Man City come to town on Saturday.

Liverpool play Brighton on the very same day which is more or less a guaranteed win for Jurgen Klopp’s men meaning Man City will have to ensure all three points vs NUFC in order to remain in the hunt for the title.

Man City news vs NUFC:

Pep Guardiola goes into this match with a series of injury concerns and the biggest amongst then is Aymeric Laporte who remains a long-term absentee.

It’s still unclear as to when the defender will return back to full fitness which means Fernandinho will play in central defence alongside John Stones.

Kyle Walker has fallen down the pecking order somewhat during the past couple of weeks and it’s been Cancelo who’s playing in that role.

Saturday’s game will not be any different as Joao Cancelo plays as the right-back while Mendy plays on the left.

Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva will most certainly feature in central midfield for Man City and with Fernandinho playing in defence, it will be Rodri playing as the defensive midfielder vs the Magpies.

Sergio Aguero is ruled out with an injury and this is indeed a big setback for the away side. The Argentine is expected to miss a handful of games which means Gabriel Jesus will play as the first-choice striker for Guardiola during this time.

Bernardo Silva has returned from suspension and will be available for selection during the weekend’s game and we feel the manager will put him in the starting line-up at the expense of Riyad Mahrez.

Raheem Sterling will operate down the right flank with Bernardo Silva playing on the left-hand side for Man City on Saturday.
