Man City breezed past FC Copenhagen to progress into the next round of the Champions League but they must immediately shift their focus to the Premier League where they have to take on Liverpool.

Liverpool are sitting at the top of the table but Man City are just one point behind them meaning if they can beat Klopp’s side at Anfield on Sunday, MCFC will be able to claim the top spot.

City have tasted defeat in their previous two visits to Anfield but their last defeat to Liverpool came way back in October of 2022 when the Cityzens lost 1-0 in the EPL.

The last time Man City lost a match this season was way back in the first week of December when Aston Villa beat them but since then, they have been invincible. On paper, these two are very evenly matched and just always we are expecting them to provide us with an enthralling 90 minutes of football on Sunday.

Manchester City’s team news and injuries:

Jack Grealish missed the UCL game in midweek and there’s almost no chance that he is going to recover in time from his muscle injury. Jeremy Doku is also a doubt and the manager has suggested that he is going to take a late call regarding his selection for Sunday’s trip to Anfield.

“We have a day off today – tomorrow we are training, and we will see how they[Doku and Grealish] feel,” Guardiola said in his pre-match press conference.

“My process is ‘which players do we have?’ – will Doku be ready and when Jack will be ready? We will know tomorrow – and then we know what we can do.”

Apart from these two, Matheus Nunes is the only other player who is a doubt because the midfielder is currently recovering from a broken finger but if Grealish and Doku both miss out then the Man City manager will have to reshuffle his forward line.

Phil Foden was the star of the show in the Manchester Derby last weekend but in that match, he started on the right flank. However, if both Grealish and Doku miss out on Sunday then Foden will most likely start on the left with Silva playing out on the right-hand side.

The manager used a 3-2-4-1 formation for the United game but we think he is going to revert to a 4-1-4-1 system because that has been his favourite this season.
