Man City suffered their first defeat of the season going down 2-1 to Wolves in the Premier League but they will be eager to quickly get back on their feet when they take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League this week.

Manchester City are in a fairly easy group so they will fight with Leipzig to grab the top spot in Group G and if they can beat the German side on Tuesday night the Cityzens will be the firm favourites to top the table.

The loss to Wolves came as a major shock but we seriously doubt if they will falter against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night. The last time these two sides met was back in March and Man City won that home game 7-0.

We are not expecting a similar scoreline because Leipzig are unbeaten in their previous five home games but the travelling English champions are very much the favourites to pick up their second win in Europe this season.

Manchester City’s team news and injuries:

While all the other EPL teams have multiple big-name players injured, Pep Guardiola will be without only three players.

Kevin De Bruyne remains a long-term absentee with a hamstring injury while Silva is not likely to recover in time to play in midweek. Bernardo Silva is very close to full fitness but we doubt if he will be available for the trip to Germany.

John Stones has also returned to training after recovering from his injury but his manager had revealed last week that the defender will only be ready after the Champions League tie.

Rodri is suspended for the domestic matches but he will be available for Wednesday and the midfielder will come straight into the starting line up, partnering Mateo Kovacic. Matheus Nunes played against Wolves but the summer signing was really poor so the Man City manager won’t even blink before dropping him.

Nathan Ake played at left-back on Saturday but he will move to the bench Gvardiol comes into the first XI.

Jack Grealish came off the bench and played around 10 minutes on Saturday but the England international is most likely going to replace Doku on the left wing.

Silva’s absence means Phil Foden is going to hold onto his place and with KDB also missing, Julian Alvarez will continue in the No 10 role.

Man City predicted line up vs RB Leipzig:

Predicted Starting line up(4-2-3-1): Ederson; Kyle Walker, Akanji, Ruben Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Kovacic; Phil Foden, Grealish/Doku, Alvarez; Haaland.
