Evan Ferguson wanted by Man United and Chelsea Brighton and Hove Albion

Man United and Chelsea are out in the market looking for attacking reinforcements and according to the latest reports, they want to sign Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.

Evan Ferguson joined the Seagulls academy in 2021 from Bohemian FC but the youngster has failed to make a significant impact up until now. This season, he’s scored six goals in 11 Premier League games and his last goal for the club game in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in the final week of November.

The youngster’s deal with Brighton expires in 2029 and his current market value is €65 million. Both United and Chelsea are keen to sign him on a loan deal until the summer but the Seagulls are more interested in a permanent deal.

Brighton are ready to part ways with Evan Ferguson but they will only allow him to leave in January if an interested club is ready to pay a permanent transfer fee.

Will Man United or Chelsea sign Evan Ferguson?

Man United and Chelsea have been scouting multiple strikers because both of them need attacking reinforcements for the second half of the season.

Hojlund has struggled to score goals for Man United and it’s the same case with Nicolas Jackson at Stamford Bridge. Both the managers have asked their respective boards to sign a new centre-forwards but there’s no way either of them will want to sign Evan Ferguson on a permanent deal.

Ferguson has scored just 10 goals in 25 appearances last season for Brighton and the fact that the Seagulls are ready to cash in on him during the middle of the campaign, just goes on to show that he’s been a failed project.

His valuation is off the charts and there’s no way Man United or even Chelsea will agree to pay €70-80 million for him. Instead of Evan Ferguson, they would much rather pay €100-110 million to sign someone like Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen.

These two will still be pushing for a short-term loan deal in the hopes that Brighton will break and take in the loan money for the 19-year-old.
