Man United have wrapped up the signing of Jadon Sancho and as per some rumours, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be their next on their target.
TEAMtalk claims: “Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their bid to sign a 21-goal striker.
“The Red Devils remain on the hunt for a new striker as a long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku, despite having the evergreen Edinson Cavani on board for another campaign.
“The 24-year-old, who is valued at around £50million, is currently preparing for England’s Euro 2020 quarter-final with Ukraine.”
Are Man United serious about Dominic Calvert-Lewin?
Manchester United have been linked with strikers like Erling Haaland and Harry Kane this summer but signing either one of them will not be a walk in the park.
But there’s a big chance that Man United will be able to get their hands on the Everton striker, especially if they find a good buyer for Anthony Martial.
Martial has turned out to be a flop last season and multiple sources are suggesting the club are ready to listen to offers for the French international.
United can afford to pay £50-odd million for Dominic Calvert-Lewin despite selling Martial but if the club can bag £30-35 million from his sale then they will save a lot of money.
Obviously, Ole’s primary choice will be to bring someone like Harry Kane or Haaland on board for the next season but the Everton striker is a much cheaper alternative.
But it will not easy for Manchester United to get their hands on the 24-year-old since Arsenal have also been linked with him plus Chelsea have also registered an interest.
The Gunners might not be able to afford such a steep transfer fee but Chelsea can surely rival Man United in this race.
During the 2020-21 season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin played in 33 Premier League games for Everton, scoring 16 and assisting two goals. In EURO 2020, the forward has made only one substitute appearance for England so far.
