Man United picked up yet another commanding win in the Premier League by beating AFC Bournemouth 5-2 during the weekend. And next up, the Red Devils will take on Aston Villa, away from home.
The Man United offensive department was once again heavily appreciated after their top-class performance against the Cherries and many people think the signing of someone like Jadon Sancho will complete the turnaround in attacking half of the pitch.
But speaking after the 5-2 win, Rio Ferdinand has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to go out in the market and bring in a new centre-back(among other signings) before the 2020-21 season begins.
“They need to add three starters minimum,” he told BT Sport, as reported.
“They definitely need a centre-back with pace. They’ve invested heavily in Harry Maguire, but he’s not someone blessed with pace.
“He’s got other attributes you like but you need someone with pace to sit alongside him and cover.
“I think they need another midfielder to go in there who can dominate physically and can actually understand defensive positions. I think yes, Scott McTominay has been a fantastic addition as a young player, but someone with a bit of experience as well.
“And I think even in the forward areas another player who can rival that front three.”
Man United are heavily invested in signing Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish this summer and some rumours claim that their Norwegian boss is also looking to bring in a new centre-forward.
And if all these transfers are really going to happen then we do not think the Red Devils will have enough money left in order to bring in a world-class centre-back.
Kalidou Koulibaly is one name which is being constantly linked with Man United but arch-rivals Liverpool are also in the hunt. And with the kind of aura that the Anfield outfit have right now, the Napoli man should choose to play under Jurgen Klopp – if he is indeed moving out in the summer.
