Man United sacked Jose Mourinho earlier this week and since then they have appointed Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

The Man United heartthrob has taken charge of the club until the end of the season as the club have chosen not to rush into finding their next long-term boss.

A few names have come forward for the lucrative role but the name of Mauricio Pochettino seems to be shining the brightest.

It is perhaps the worst kept secret in the world that Man United want Pochettino to take up the job but now talkSPORT host Jim White has revealed that the club have received a host of applications from some of the top managers of the world.

Host Jim White “He said he’s been inundated with applications and recommendations – the top people in the game want this job.

But he said, at the end of the day, nothing will be announced before the end of the season.”: “Ed Woodward told me, on the record, that last week was not a proud one for Manchester United.

“He said the club now needed to undergo the proper process of finding the right manager and that nothing will be announced before the end of the season.

Many people feel that Mauricio Pochettino will find it hard to resist the Man United job but some pundits feel that the Argentinian moving to Old Trafford will largely depend on how Spurs perform this season.

If Spurs can get their hands on a silverware by the end of the season, then it will be really hard for Man United to get Pochettino.
