Man United and Leeds United played out a thriller at Elland Road on Sunday but in the end, it was the visitors who held their nerves and picked up all three points.

Man United won the match 4-2 meaning they have once again entered the top four of the Premier League whereas Leeds United have moved agonisingly close to the relegation zone. The Old Trafford outfit have played a few games more than the likes of Arsenal and Spurs but this win will give them a lot of confidence in terms of claiming a Champions League spot this season.

Quite surprisingly, United scored two goals in the first half and looked fully in control but in the second half, Leeds United came out all guns blazing. The home side scored two goals in the span of one minute to level things up in the second half but Rangnick’s side were able to come up with a response and score two more goals.

Manchester United are doing all they can to lay cling to that final Champions League spot but they will ultimately have to rely on the other contenders to drop points if they want to remain in Europe’s top tier next season as well.

Man United players ratings vs Leeds United:

De Gea: 7/10

The keeper had to pick up the ball from the back of the net on two occasions but other than that, he did not have much to do.

Harry Maguire: 8/10

The Man United captain has finally scored a goal and that too from a corner. This goal will give him a lot of confidence, especially after all that’s been talked about him in recent months.

Lindelof: 7.2/10

The Swede was chosen ahead of Raphael Varane and he did a very good job at keeping the Leeds forwards at bay. He made four clearances, nine recoveries and also provided one key pass during the game.

Wan-Bissaka: 7.5/10

Wan-Bissaka made some really good tackles to stop Leeds United from getting into the box but the full-back looks absolutely clueless whenever he’s in the attacking areas. He got a start only cause the manager wanted to rest Dalot.

Luke Shaw: 7.7/10

The left-back provided an assist and overall he had a pretty solid performance. It’s safe to say that Shaw has been able to reclaim the left-back position from Alex Telles.

McTominay: 6.9/10

The Scottish international was really lucky not to pick up two yellow cards, thereby escaping a suspension. He made a few full-bodied challenges, one of them left Koch bloodied and forced him off the pitch early.

Paul Pogba: 6.9/10

The Frenchman was brilliant in bits and pieces but as a whole, he had a very muted outing. He was eventually replaced by Fred and this inconsistency is something that Pogba just can’t seem to shake off. After two or three good performances Pogba ends up having an off day.

Bruno Fernandes: 8.7/10

The Portuguese was back in form, scoring one and assisting one and it looks like he’s peaked at the perfect time for Man United. He had a 100% shot accuracy and was dispossessed only once throughout the match.

Jesse Lingard: 6.5/10

Lingard was starting a game for Man United for ages and the rustiness was clearly visible. He did make a few good runs into the channel and made one key pass but apart from that, he was almost invisible on the pitch.

Jadon Sancho: 9/10

Sancho is finally turning out to be the player which he was at Borussia Dortmund as he provided two assists on Sunday. The 21-year-old made three key passes and had an xA of 0.51.

Ronaldo: 7/10

The forward had ended his barren run in midweek but he failed to put the ball into the back of the net from point-blank range on Sunday. He failed to come into the thick of things and had only 28 touches in the attacking areas.

Substitutes:

Anthony Elanga: 7.2/10

The youngster missed one big chance but he also scored the fourth and final goal for Man United.

Fred: 7.3/10

The Brazilian replaced Paul Pogba in midfield and he was the one who put Man United back infront with the third goal.

Raphael Varane: N/A.
