Man United take on Brentford in their next Premier League game and in many ways, this one is a must-win match for the Red Devils.
They go into Saturday’s game at the back of consecutive defeats and both those losses came in matches they were expected to win very easily. Last weekend, they went down 1-0 to Palace and then in midweek, they lost 2-3 to Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Both those losses came at Old Trafford which is shocking because OT has been a fortress for the team in recent months. This weekend’s match is also a home tie and Erik ten Hag will have to urge his boys to put up a performance of a lifetime.
The players and the managers look completely clueless and as per some reports, the Manchester United manager feels he cannot be too harsh with his players due to fears of mental fragility. If this news is correct then ETH will have to be very careful with how he handles situations but at the same time, United cannot afford a third straight loss at home.
Manchester United’s team news and injuries:
Erik ten Hag has been unlucky with injuries right from the beginning of the season and Man United suffered another major blow earlier this week after it was revealed that Lisandro Martinez has aggravated his injury and will require surgery to fix the problem.
Martinez’s injury setback means Varane and Lindelof will be the main centre-back pairing for the time being but even Varane is very injury-prone and if he picks up a knock then Man United will be back to the Maguire- Lindelof duo.
Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Reguilon are all out injured and it’s only Reguilon who is closer to a comeback. Amrabat has been played as the left-back and if Reguilon cannot recover from his tight hamstring before Saturday then the central midfielder will once again have to play out of position.
Mason Mount was one of the rare bright sparks in the Galatasaray game and he will pair up with Casemiro in central midfield. Casemiro picked up a red card in midfield but that won’t affect his league selection.
Marcus Rashford is looking completely clueless and we seriously think the Man United manager should drop him to the bench and hand Garnacho a start. Garnacho has done really well whenever he’s been on the pitch and the Argentine deserves a start.
Antony has made a comeback to the squad and played as a sub in midfield but the Brazilian international will get a start against Brentford on Saturday.
Hojlund scored a brace against Galatasaray and the summer signing is slowly picking up pace.
Brentford are winless in their previous five league matches so Man United should pick up an easy win but then again, it’s very hard to predict a strong and commanding performance from this disjointed United side.
Man United predicted line up vs Brentford:
Predicted Starting XI(4-2-3-1): Onana; Varane, Lindelof, Amrabat, Dalot; Casemiro, Mason Mount; Fernandes, Antony, Rashford/Garnacho; Hojlund.
