Man United came from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 in midweek but they must back that up with a win this weekend when they face Nottingham Forest.

United finally turned a corner after going winless for four matches and the win has once again taken Erik ten Hag’s side within touching distance of the top four. This Saturday, Manchester United travel to the City Ground to take on a faltering Nottingham Forest side.

Forest are currently 16th on the Premier League table with just four wins against their name but in their previous match, they did beat Newcastle United so the hosts are going to have their tails up.

Man United will be the favourites to win this encounter but for that to happen, they will have to ensure they replicate their form from the second half of the Villa game. A win will keep them in the hunt for a UCL spot but if they stumble once again then both Brighton and Newcastle could go above them by the end of the matchweek.

Manchester United’s team news and injury updates:

Luke Shaw and Sofyan Amrabat missed the Villa game due to minor knocks but the Man United manager has revealed that neither of them is expected to return this weekend.

“So, it will be a similar squad as we had against Villa,” Ten Hag told reporters on Friday.

Dalot played at right-back in Shaw’s absence and since the England international is not going to return, we are likely to see an unchanged backline at the City ground.

Martinez, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are all unavailable which means Ten Hag will once again put his faith in the central defensive pairing of Evans and Varane.

Cristian Eriksen returned to central midfield and it automatically helped balance Manchester United’s midfield. Eriksen brought in a sense of calm in the middle of the pitch which allowed Fernandes to play further up front and also eased the pressure on Kobbie Mainoo.

Eriksen does not have the legs to play two 90-minute games in a span of one week but the Ten Hag has to have him on the pitch if Man United want to take control of the game.

Casemiro, Amrabat and Mason Mount are ruled out for Saturday’s game which means McTominay is the only available midfield backup to Mainoo and Eriksen.

Rashford played a really positive game in midweek and Ten Hag should reward him with another start on the left wing. Garnacho played brilliantly on the right-hand side and he is going to keep Antony on the bench.

Hojlund finally got his maiden Premier League goal in midweek and the Danish international will be hoping that he can back it up with another strike against Nottingham Forest.
