Man United have qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League meaning their next game vs Astana is not too significant.

The Red Devils make the trip to Kazakhstan on Thursday for their Group L match and the manager is expected to make some major changes to his first XI as a handful of youngsters are expected to start at the Astana Arena.

We expect a string of first-team players to be rested for this match meaning the likes of Greenwood and Chong could get starting roles on Thursday.

Man United news vs Astana:

David De Gea has not been featuring in the Europa League this season which means backup keeper Sergio Romero will play in front of goal on Thursday.

Phil Jones had a nightmare vs Sheffield United and had to be taken off after the first-half but the England international should start in central defence alongside Axel Tuanzebe.

Harry Maguire is not expected to be named in the matchday squad while Victor Lindelof should start on the bench.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will also be rested meaning Ashley Young will come into the first XI while Luke Shaw will start at left-back after having fully recovered from his injury.

Nemanja Matic is back to full fitness and is expected to play in central defence alongside youngster James Garner. But there are some rumours which claim Andreas Pereira could be named in the starting XI vs Astana.

Matic has returned back to training but some reports claim he is not match-fit which is why Solskjaer is expected to wait until matchday in order to determine his availability.

Jesse Lingard came on in the second-half vs Sheffield United during the weekend and made a positive impact on the match and the England international will hopefully play in the attacking midfielder’s role on Thursday.

Juan Mata has seen little game time this season but whenever he’s played, the Spaniard has helped provide that creative spark in the final third. And with Astana not being a very strong side, Mata should be given the free license for this Europa League clash.

Tahith Chong has not been able to impress this season but the youngster should replace Marcus Rashford on the left flank as the England international is not expected to make the trip to Kazakhstan.

Anthony Martial did not look happy when he was taken off during the second-half vs Sheffield United and the player is not expected to start vs Astana on Thursday as youngster Mason Greenwood will play up front.
