Arsenal defenders Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin had been on the sidelines for a number of months now but all of them made a return to the first XI this week.

Holding and Bellerin picked up major injuries last season and both of them missed the whole pre-season training camp while summer signing Kieran Tierney had been recovering from double hernia surgery.

On Tuesday, Arsenal took on Nottingham Forest in the League Cup and the Gunners ended up winning the match 5-0.

Former Celtic lad Kieran Tierney made his debut for the Gunners during this match playing at left-back while Rob Holding started in central defence alongside Mustafi.

Hector Bellerin though started the match on the bench but came on to replace Tierney in the 77th minute.

And the return of these defenders means they will most certainly feature in the Man United vs Arsenal matchday squad on Monday.

Arsenal have been struggling defensively during the past couple of matches but the return of these players will surely add depth to the squad and there’s a big possibility that Bellerin and Tierney could actually start at Old Trafford on Monday.

Maitland-Niles picked up a red card during Arsenal’s last league game which means Hector Bellerin should be named as the first-choice right-back in the Man United vs Arsenal clash.

And we also feel that Kieran Tierney could get the nod ahead of Sead Kolasinac.

Rob Holding was the first choice defender for Unai Emery last season until he got himself injured but the manager has made it clear that his return does not guarantee a place in central defence.

The duo of David Luiz and Sokratis have done a decent enough job at the back for the Gunners and we feel Emery would not want to change this combination especially when they are about to take on Man United away from home.

Rob Holding should start on the bench though and might very well be introduced in the second half if Arsenal are looking to defend a slender lead.
