Arsenal came out of Old Trafford with a 2-2 draw on Wednesday despite being up in the game two times.

The Man United players were directly at fault for Arsenal’s goals but that really did not matter to Unai Emery.

But after the game what has really bothered the Spanish manager is the fact that his players were not able to hold onto the leads for more than four minutes.

Arsenal Mustafi scored the first goal for Arsenal, it was Anthony Martial who pulled one back for the Red Devils within four minutes.

And then in the second half Jesse Lingard tied the game at 2-2 just a minute after Marcos Rojo had scored an own goal.

Speaking after the game, Unai Emery revealed that his team need to up their defensive game if they wish to convert good games into wins.

“I am very proud for our work and how we responded in the 90 minutes. When we are winning it was a good moment but they equalised very quickly then we got up after their two goals,” Unai Emery said.

“In the second half, our players worked to find a way to win. I think we were close, more than them, to do the third goal but De Gea saved two or three times with good action.

“I think we controlled the game, the second half better than the first. We could have won this match in certain moments, but they equalised very quickly after both our goals.

“We need to improve defensively, but we need to have balance and not lose our attacking chances.

“We perhaps lost a bit of control there but we created lots of chances after 2-2 and I am very proud of our performance. We wanted to win but we can feel this point is good.

“Sead Kolasinac came off with his head down but I said to him he had a very good match in attack and you have to be positive and learn from this match.”

Arsenal would have fallen behind in the race for the top four due to this draw but thankfully Chelsea lost their respective match against Wolves on Wednesday.

This means the Gunners and Chelsea are both tied on 31 points with the Stamford Bridge outfit being above Unai Emery’s men based on goal difference.
