Premier League side Man United could make a move for Juventus winger Douglas Costa if they were to miss out on Jadon Sancho – as per Sports Witness.
Ole Gunners Solskjaer has been chasing Sancho since like a million years but his club are still not sure about closing the deal before the next season begins.
Both the England international and Man United are eager to make the deal go through but Dortmund have placed a massive price tag on the youngster’s shoulders which Solskjaer is reluctant to pay.
And so if the Premier League side were to miss out on Jadon Sancho, they are planning to go after Douglas Costa.
Sports Witness while quoting Calciomercato have said: “According to Calciomercato, the Old Trafford club are looking at other options and have their sights on Douglas Costa. Manchester United consider the Juventus winger as the ‘first alternative to Jadon Sancho’.
“It’s claimed the 29-year-old hasn’t been consistent in the last three years and therefore, the Old Lady have decided to make the Brazilian available in the market.”
Will Juventus part ways with Douglas Costa?
Douglas Costa joined the Old Lady from Bayern Munich permanently in 2018 but the winger has clearly not been able to cement his place in the starting line-up under Maurizio Sarri this season.
The 29-year-old had featured in only 14 Serie A matches this campaign before the league was suspended and many pundits feel, Juventus will not hesitate to part ways with him if they can get the right transfer fee.
As per TransferMarkt, Douglas Costa is valued at €24 million but two years ago, Juve paid €40 million for his services and they will surely look to recoup that in the summer.
And this is why we feel, Man United are better off trying to pay a large sum for a player like Jadon Sancho who is just 20 years old instead of attempting to sign someone who will be 30 by the time the 2020-21 season kicks off.
Man United are not the only club interested in Douglas Costa as the report claims that teams like Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the situation.
