Man United manager Jose Mourinho is currently a man on a mission.

A mission to keep the Champions League status of the club by the end of the season. But with each passing game, this dream is becoming more and more unrealistic.

Man United are currently eight points away from the top-four spot meaning they will have to pick up maximum points from their games this month in order to even stay in contention.

But speaking before the Man United vs Arsenal game, Jose Mourinho made a pretty weird claim – one which has not gone down too well with the fans of the club.

Talking about the significant investment Everton have made this season, Jose Mourinho believed Manchester United will finish above the Toffees despite Marco Silva’s men being above the Red Devils currently.

“I don’t think Everton will be in front of Manchester United by the end of the season,” Mourinho said.

“I think at the end of the season the top six will be the teams you think.

“We have eight or nine points (gap to make up). I don’t think we need a miracle. We don’t need to waste points where we don’t need to waste.

“Before Palace, I said my target would be end of December in top four. Now the target has changed. Now we have to try to be very close to these positions. We need to not be so unlucky with problems that we have. We need some players to perform.”

This comment from Jose Mourinho has infuriated the Manchester United fans who claim their boss has now officially killed United’s big club status by comparing them to the likes of Everton(no disrespect intended).

Manchester United currently have 22 points but if they fail to pick up a win over Arsenal on Wednesday then they could very well be spending their rest of the week closer to the second half of the table instead of the other way round.
