Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier due to a calf injury and as a result of which he has been sent back home according to Sky Sports.

Kompany suffered the injury while he was on International duty for Belgium in the month of August and since then he has been sidelined for his club. The 31-year-old has not featured for Manchester City since his injury and he barely trained during the past week.

Despite not being fully fit he received a call-up to the International squad but now Roberto Martinez has deemed him unfit and has sent him back home.

While speaking about the Vincent Kompany situation, Martinez said, “So, it was clear that he wasn’t going to make it for these games and it was a very good communication with Manchester City.”

Vincent Kompany has been a frequent visitor to the treatment room over the past couple of seasons but he still remains an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City. Having said that though, the Citizens are in fine form and the Belgian will find it really difficult to get back into the first team setup once he is deemed fully fit.
