Chelsea have been tipped to sign Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer as a replacement to Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer – as per reports.

Manuel Neuer has one more year left on his current deal and right now the club are only willing to offer him a short-term contract primarily since he is already 34 years old.

The World Cup winner though is not too keen to accept a short-term offer and as per reports he has already rejected the deal which was a huge boost for Chelsea’s hopes.

Now though the Bayern Munich manager has thrown caution to the transfer winds by claiming that even though contract talks have stalled but he is confident Manuel Neuer will agree to a new deal pretty soon.

Flick said, as quoted by Metro: ‘These are also decisions that every player has to decide for themselves.

‘In the past weeks and months, I have already explained how important Manuel Neuer, David Alaba or Thiago are to us.

‘They have undergone enormous developments over the past six months and were real top performers. The club also noticed that and I hope that it goes in the right direction.

‘I have known Manuel for so long. We get along well, we appreciate each other very much.

‘It is his decision, he also knows what he has at Bayern. Not just me, the whole club would be happy if he would extend.’

These comments will come as a huge blow for the Chelsea manager who is keen to find an apt replacement for Kepa before the next season starts.

But while the Blues had been keeping tabs on Manuel Neuer for some time now, a number of rumours have claimed the club were never in the race to sign the Bayern No 1 since the keeper is not keen on joining the Chelsea outfit even if he does not get the right offer from his current club.

Neuer though is not the only keeper who Chelsea have targeted with Nick Pope also being on the radar but in order to sign the Burnley man, the Blues will have to shell out a massive amount.
