Arsenal manager Unai Emery is planning to make a move for Espanyol centre-back Mario Hermoso – as per the latest reports.
The former PSG boss took over the Gunners during the summer and after initial hiccups, the London outfit now looks like a force to be reckoned with.
While Arsenal have a well oiled attacking half but it is the defensive area that still needs work.
Hence the interest in 23-year-old Mario Hermoso.
Who is Mario Hermoso?
Mario Hermoso played his youth career with La Liga giants Real Madrid but the centre-back was eventually released by the Los Blancos in the summer of 2017 and he went on to join Espanyol on a three-year deal.
And during his one year stay with the La Liga side Mario has already established himself as a first team regular and is currently regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Spain.

Arsenal have been struggling at the back – conceding 15 goals in just 12 games and Unai Emery has identified the 23-year-old as a long-term replacement to some of his ageing defenders.
But getting Mario Hermoso to the Emirates will not be a cakewalk as reports suggest that Real Madrid have shown interest in bringing the youngster back to the Bernabeu.
While Arsenal are willing to shell out as much as €40 million for the centre-back but the Los Blancos have a buyback clause for Mario Bermoso which stands at only €7.5 million.
