Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to Spurs this summer and amidst all this gossips, the Argentine has asked to leave PSG, according to Goal.

The report claims: “In Paris they know the intentions of the Argentine coach, who will respect the decision of the French club. Real Madrid knows it. Tottenham love him.

“Goal already announced on May 27 that the white club had called Mauricio Pochettino and now he can also advance that the Argentine has already informed PSG that he wants to leave.

“His departure, having a contract in force, is not easy. Everything now depends on the understanding between both entities, with the possible signing of Kylian Mbappé on the horizon.

“Although the relationship between Leonardo, sports director of the French club, with Pochettino has lost out of tune, the continuity of the coach is by no means ruled out. He arrived in winter and feels a special affection for PSG, a team in which he played as a footballer, and is aware that he is in a sought-after position and in a project with great aspirations. Staying would not be a drama in any case.”

Is Mauricio Pochettino coming back to Spurs?

Spurs are obviously not the only club interested in signing Pochettino and we think Real Madrid has a much better chance at getting their hands on the current PSG boss.

Madrid will be a much more lucrative job for the Argentine but if Daniel Levy can convince Pochettino that he will get more control over things then there’s every chance he could be returning for a second stint.

Managerial returns have not always been fruitful for managers or clubs but Mauricio Pochettino did some great work at Spurs during the past couple of years.

Also, a return to Spurs will heavily depend on whether the club can hold onto key players like Harry Kane and Son this summer. If these big-name players are going to exit the club in the coming months then Mauricio Pochettino will have to start from scratch, something which the manager will not be too interested in – especially when has can go and rule in Madrid.

The failure to be in the Champions League could also act as a huge obstacle in helping Spurs get the services of Poch for the upcoming seasons.
