Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has played his last match for the Blues this past weekend as the 33-year-old will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.

Gary Cahill joined the Blues in 2012 from Bolton Wanderers and with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Sarri has chosen not to offer him a new contract at the club.

And the Italian manager has received a lot of criticism in the way he has chosen to handle Gary Cahill this season, given the once regular defender has played only a single Premier League game this campaign.

And this appearance too came this past weekend vs Watford when Gary Cahill got around 20 minutes on the pitch meaning this was more of a farewell as compared to a competitive game.

For most of the season, the centre-back has chosen to remain tight-lipped about his whole situation but speaking after the game, he decided to vent out some anger about Maurizio Sarri.

‘I see some of the situations with players who won the title with Chelsea, not just myself, and it just hasn’t been right,’ Cahill said(via Metro).

‘It makes it very hard for me to have respect for someone who has not respected what some of us have won with the club.’

While Sarri could have gone out and said a number of things against Gary Cahill in order to defend his decision but instead the Italian chose to remain classy and let the 33-year-old soak in the final few days at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri replied(via Metro): ‘I do not know the situation. During the season he was very professional, he played only five-six times but he was important in the training ground and in the dressing room.

‘Today was the last match and it was important for him to stay on the pitch but it was important for the fans and him.

‘Here Gary won everything, so I think he has to say goodbye.’
