Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers beat Hibernian 1-0 last weekend and next up they take on Celtic in the Old Firm Derby at Ibrox.

But going into this match, Steven Gerrard has received a major blow as Allan McGregor will not play any part in the derby.

Allan McGregor shockingly chose to kick out at Hibernian man Marc McNulty while he was trying to launch the ball upfield which resulted in a red card.

And Steven Gerrard is even more furious given that this incident took place with just a few minutes left on the clock and Rangers being in a pretty comfortable position.

Allan McGregor will most certainly be a huge miss and his absence means Wes Foderingham will get to play in front on goal next weekend.

But this is not the first time that a Rangers man has lost his cool on the pitch and Steven Gerrard has come out to claim that he is running out of ideas to keep all his players on the pitch for the whole game.

Steven Gerrard told Sky Sports after the game(as reported): “Another lack of discipline, across the season, has cost us a lot as well.

“Again, another crazy bit of discipline which, hasn’t damaged us today because we managed to get over the line and win the game, but it’ll probably hurt us in the next couple of games.

“I’m running out of ideas on what to do. It’s not good enough. The players need to improve it. Again, I’ll try and address it. I’m not sure of the exact number of red cards, but it’s not acceptable.

“It’s not good enough.

“Allan McGregor has been one of our best players all season. He was in the running for player of the year and rightly so.

“Again you see the reason why he’s highly rated as a goalkeeper because he pulls off a world-class save to get you three points.

“But then, it’s another crazy moment that it’s difficult to defend.”
