Merih Demiral joined Serie A champions Juventus for a fee of €18 million from Sassuolo during the summer but it looks like he will be on his way after just a few months.

The defender was supposed to have a big impact at Juventus but has somehow failed to win the trust of manager Maurizio Sarri and so far the 21-year-old has managed to play only a single match in the Serie A.

And now as per reports, Juve are planning to offload Merih Demiral during the January transfer window and will be willing to accept offers in the region of €40 million.

Man United have been linked with the youngster for some time but now it looks like Arsenal have also joined the race to sign him at the start of next year.

United brought in Harry Maguire during the summer but it’s pretty clear, the manager will look to bring in one more centre-back pretty soon.

Arsenal though have some serious defensive issues since David Luiz has failed to provide the necessary inputs in defence after having joined the Gunners from Chelsea.

So naturally, Unai Emery will be more eager to sign Merih Demiral in January since he desperately needs to plug that hole in defence.

Juventus have tied down Merih Demiral until the summer of 2024 meaning they are in no hurry to let him leave and will be more than happy to play the waiting game.

This also means the Turin outfit will be able to jack up the price and both the interested clubs might have to shell out more than 40 million euros in order to sign the defender.

While Arsenal are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, Man United’s biggest priority right now is to bring in a new centre-forward in January which is why Solskjaer might very well opt out of the race to sign Merih Demiral.
