Messi vs Ronaldo is a debate that has been raging on ever since both the players reached their prime.

And many people since have tried to settle this debate but more than a decade later the argument is still raging on.

While some claim Cristiano Ronaldo is the most complete forward of this generation other argue that Lionel Messi is a much more selfless act and plays as part of a team.

But now Ronaldo’s former Man United teammate, Wayne Rooney has tried to put in some sense into this argument by giving his opinion on the Messi vs Ronaldo debate.

Rooney has played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo for a number of seasons and immediately some would claim that the former England captain would favour his mate.

Shockingly though, the current DC United player has taken a totally different stance in the Messi vs Ronaldo debate.

“In both games (Champions League finals) if we had been against any other team but Barcelona you would have fancied us to win,” Rooney said(as reported by the Mirror).

“In my eyes, they are the best team ever and Messi is the best player ever. What he gets to do is incredible. Messi has just got a bit of everything.

“Ronaldo has gone from a winger to a striker and a goalscorer,

“Rather than taking players on all the time, he has gone more one or two touches, getting in the box and scoring goals.

“Messi a bit of everything – you see him scoring goals from playing probably a deep midfield role at times, and where I’m probably still walking on the pitch he’s scoring. So he is probably the best.”

Wayne Rooney had an attacking partnership for more than a dozen seasons with Cristiano Ronaldo but clearly, all that bromance has not affected his decision making.

While Rooney lauds the Portuguese’s goalscoring abilities but he clearly states that Lionel Messi is a better player.
