Arsenal suffered their second defeat in just four games, this time losing to West Ham United at the London Stadium.

The Hammers broke the voodoo and came out 1-0 winners with youngster Declan Rice scoring the only goal in the game.

And once again, Unai Emery chose to leave out Mesut Ozil from the game.

Not only did Ozil fail to make it to the first XI but to many people’s surprise, the player was even left out of the matchday squad.

Speaking about Mesut Ozil’s absence, Unai Emery said: “The players who were here were the ones who deserved to be at this match.

“Sometimes he is helping us, at other moments not helping us because of injury or because maybe the match is not for him.”

And this is not the first time that Mesut Ozil has been snubbed by the manager.

The German’s importance at Arsenal has been diminishing with each passing month, and now it is more or less certain that Emery wants to sell him off.

This decision though has not gone down too well with the other Arsenal players who clearly feel Mesut Ozil still has a lot to offer to the team.

After the 1-0 defeat to West Ham, defender Sokratis also claimed that the team were in dire need of the playmaker’s talents during the game – in order to unlock the Hammers defence.

But Unai Emery seems to have made up his mind and wants to offload the playmaker as soon as possible.

Mesut Ozil currently earns 350,000 pounds a week making him the highest earner in the Gunners squad and the manager wants to free up those finances by selling the playmaker.

Yes, Mesut Ozil still remains a valuable asset to the squad but once Denis Suarez arrives, the German will surely fall down the pecking order even more.
