Mesut Ozil has found a new lease of life at Arsenal under his new manager Mikel Arteta, but there’s still a chance that the player could be on his way out during the summer.

The German had a really poor first half of the season, struggling to start games under then manager Unai Emery and it was more or less certain that he would be sold off during the January transfer window.

But then, Mikel Arteta was given the reigns of the club back in December and one of the first things that the new manager did was to promote Mesut Ozil up the order.

Since then, the playmaker has played most of the games for the Gunners and has been an influential figure in the final third of the pitch.

But despite his recent good form, Mesut Ozil is out of contract at Arsenal in 2021 and there have been rumours that the player could be on his way out as soon as the current season comes to an end since Arsenal would want to get a handsome transfer fee from his sale.

These rumours are growing as the season comes to a close, but the player’s manager has now come out to clear the air claiming that Mesut Ozil remains fully committed to the Emirates outfit until he is under contract.

Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Sogut said: “At the moment, we don’t even talk about it, because he still has one-and-a-half-years left.

“He still has 15 months to go. Until then, he will stay at Arsenal, for sure.

“He will stay until the end of his contract. There’s no chance he’ll leave.”

Mikel Arteta will surely be planning to bring in some fresh attacking faces during the summer transfer window but if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League then it will be really hard for Arsenal to attract the big stars.

And maybe this could prompt the manager to hang onto Mesut Ozil for one more season.
