Arsenal forward Mesut Ozil has been a thorn in the bed for Unai Emery last season and it looks like the manager is finally ready to offload him.

Mesut Ozil signed a contract extension in February of 2018 and his current deal expires in 2021. But if last season was any indication then Emery clearly has no faith in the German playmaker.

The Gunners did try to offload him during the January transfer window but they failed to find a suitable buyer and Ozil ended up staying at the Emirates.

Now though it looks like Mesut Ozil is finally packing up his bags and according to Sports Mole, the attacking midfielder could be heading to Turkey.

The report states: “Midfielder Mesut Ozil has reportedly edged closer to a move away from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

“Despite having penned a long-term contract during the closing months of Arsene Wenger’s reign, Ozil has been linked with an exit from the Gunners since the arrival of Unai Emery.

“According to reports in Turkey, Fenerbahce currently have “a 50-51%” chance of sealing a deal for the playmaker, who still has two years remaining at the Emirates Stadium.

“A loan move with Arsenal covering a portion of Ozil’s wages seems to be the most likely conclusion, providing that Fenerbahce can find financial backing to sign a player who has Turkish heritage.”

Mesut Ozil is currently the highest paid player in the Arsenal squad and if Unai Emery can offload him then surely he will gather a significant amount of funds.

And as soon as the transfer for the German is complete, the Arsenal manager is expected to use the sale money to bring in a series of new players.

But some experts feel that Mesut Ozil might not be too eager to head to Turkey this summer primarily because he will have to take a massive pay cut in order to play for Fenerbahce.
