Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has fallen down the pecking order at the club ever since Unai Emery has taken charge.

The German has received some game time during the past couple of weeks but he is often left out during crunch matches which is a clear indication that Emery does not have full faith in him.

During the January transfer window, Arsenal tried to offload him but the club failed to find a suitable buyer forcing Mesut Ozil to stay at the Emirates until the end of the season.

But reports claim that the North London outfit will try once again during the summer since the manager is in need of money to fund his transfers at the end of the season.

Now though speaking to Sky Sports, the German has made it clear that he wishes to stay at Arsenal beyond the summer.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Mesut Ozil said: “Absolutely[I want to stay]. I’ve got two more years on my contract. I don’t know after that but I’ve got two years left.

“Yes[I am happy]. Why not? I’m 30 now, still got years in front of me, it’s down to the club as well of course, but I’ve got two years here – after that, I don’t know what happens.

“No [issues with Emery]. Definitely not. There’s always speculation, everyone inside knew that our situation is positive.

“It’s frustrating [not playing]. I want to play in every game. Through injury, I’ve missed games but that’s football.

“As a footballer, you always want to start games. The coach makes decisions which means you may not start but you have to keep going.”

Mesut Ozil is currently the highest paid footballer in the Arsenal squad and selling him off will undoubtedly free up a lot of money for Unai Emery.

But the major problem is that clubs are shying away from making a move for the German primarily because of his high wages.

Ozil is clearly not Emery’s first choice playmaker right now which means whether he likes it or not, the club will most certainly try to sell him at the end of the season.

But in order to secure a move out of the Emirates, Mesut Ozil will most certainly have to take a pay-cut.
