Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday following which the Premier League have now decided to suspend games for the next couple of weeks.

The Gunners manager was immediately at risk when the Olympiacos boss was tested positive of coronavirus after the Greek side played Arsenal in the Europa League and there were reports that the owner had met some of the Gunners players after the match.

On Thursday, the North London club released a statement confirming the news about Mikel Arteta and also explained what they would be doing as a measure to prevent the outbreak from spreading.

The statement read: “Our London Colney training centre has been closed after head coach Mikel Arteta received a positive COVID-19 result this evening.

“Arsenal personnel who had recent close contact with Mikel will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines.

“We expect this to be a significant number of people from Colney, including the full first-team squad and coaching staff, as well as a smaller number of people from our Hale End Academy which we have also temporarily closed as a precaution.

“We expect those who did not have close contact with Mikel to return to work in the coming days. In the meantime, our Colney and Hale End training centres will undergo a deep clean and our other club sites are operating as normal.”

And now after just a day of the news, Mikel Arteta has revealed that he is already feeling better after self-isolating himself as per regulations.

The Gunners boss tweeted: “Thanks for your words and support. Feeling better already. We’re all facing a huge and unprecedented challenge. Everyone’s health is all that matters right now.

“Protect each other by following the guidelines and we’ll come through this together. Well done PL (Premier League) for making the right decisions.”

Apart from Mikel Arteta, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has also tested positive for COVID-19 while West Ham manager David Moyes is self-isolating himself after coming in contact with Mikel Arteta during the Hammer’s game against Arsenal.
