According to Football Insider, Liverpool have no intentions of selling Mo Salah during the January transfer window.
The Anfield outfit rejected a summer offer of around £150 million from Saudi club Al-Ittihad but there is a firm belief that the Middle Eastern side will try and sign Salah next year as well.
Jurgen Klopp chose not to sell Mo Salah in the summer and it looks like the manager does not want to take the risk of losing his most important player during the middle of the season. This decision has been rewarded very well because, in 10 Premier League appearances, the Egyptian international has scored eight and assisted four goals and currently he has the most goal involvements for Liverpool this season.
Salah’s current contract will keep him at Anfield until the end of the 2024-25 season and everyone was shocked that Liverpool chose to reject £150 million for someone who is not going to sign a new deal.
The rejection was primarily because Liverpool did not have time to find a proper replacement and they will have the same problem in January as well. It won’t be easy to sign an apt replacement for a player of his calibre and anyone they bring in in January will just be a patch-up signing.
This is probably why Jurgen Klopp does not want to lose Mo Salah at the start of the new year and it makes perfect sense.
However, the winger is not likely to continue with Liverpool and at 31 years old, so there’s a very big chance that Klopp will get rid of him at the end of the ongoing season.
Liverpool have made a shortlist of replacements with names like Mbappe, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Jarrod Bowen and Michael Olise on the radar and if Mo Salah is heading to a Saudi team then the Reds should bag at least £100-120 million.
With so much money in the bag, anyone they go after, Liverpool will have to be ready to overpay but if they can bring in someone like Kvaratskhelia as the long-term replacement to Mo Salah then it will be a great bit of business from the Merseyside outfit.
