Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen but the striker seems to have dealt a major blow to both these suitors.

Victor Osimhen was a major influence in Napoli’s success last season but this campaign, the striker’s relationship with the club has broken down. A series of events have turned the relationship sour and now there are rumours that the player wants to leave.

Napoli has already held talks over a new contract but as per reports, Osimhen has paused the discussions to explore his options. However, in a major update, the 24-year-old has now claimed that he is happy in Naples.

“I am happy at Napoli,” Osimhen has said in an interview on Twitch.

“People don’t know how difficult it is to play in Serie A. From a tactical and physical point of view, it’s one of the most difficult leagues to play in.”

Will Victor Osimhen refuse to leave Napoli?

This might look like a big setback for all the interested clubs but we don’t see Victor Osimhen remaining at Napoli beyond the next summer window.

Osimhen’s statement seemed like a decision for the January window because there were rumours that he would force an exit at the start of the new year. However, it now looks like the forward will take any decision once the 23/24 season comes to an end.

Liverpool are still one of the favourites to land him but any move will only happen next summer. Also, Liverpool will mostly cash in on Mo Salah at the end of this season so they will have enough money to pay for the Napoli star.

Arsenal are also interested in Victor Osimhen but after Gabriel Jesus’ recent injury, they want to sign someone in January so someone like Ivan Toney will most likely be their target number one.

Victor Osimhen has time and again said that he wants to play in the Premier League and if Napoli cannot make him agree to a new contract then the Serie A side will have to cash in on him next summer. We seriously doubt if the player is going to commit his future to Napoli but after his recent statement, any exit in January is ruled out.
