Scotland need to pick up another win to book a play-off spot for the 2022 World Cup and these three points should come against Moldova on Friday.

Moldova are currently sitting at the bottom of Group F and have lost their previous seven matches in this particular tournament. This means picking up a win should not be too much of a fuss for Scotland but since they need to get the job done, the manager is expected to name a fairly strong starting XI.

The match will be played at the Zimbru Stadium in Chișinău, Moldova and should Steve Clarke’s side beat the home team then they will be guaranteed the second spot in the group, after leaders Denmark.

The manager does have a few absentees going into this game but he has a deep enough squad to not be worried about naming a winning side on Friday.

Scotland team news, suspensions and injuries:

The manager does have a few absentees in the attacking areas with Lyndon Dykes and Ryan Christie both unavailable due to suspension.

Newcastle’s Ryan Fraser also withdrew from the squad meaning the manager might have to opt for a change in formation on Friday.

Usually, Scotland use two forwards but since both Dykes and Christie are absent, Che Adams could be playing as the lone striker.

Kieran Tierney featured for Arsenal last weekend after returning from an injury so he will be in contention to start but we doubt if Steve Clarke will use him ahead of Robertson.

Jacob Brown has been in fine form for Stoke in the Championship so it will be interesting to see if the manager hands in his national team debut vs Moldova.
