Petr Cech joined Arsenal from Chelsea back in 2015 and the Europa League final vs his former club next week will be his final game for the Gunners.
Petr Cech remained the No 1 keeper for the North London side ever since joining them but this season, the veteran has fallen down the pecking order as Arsenal went on to sign Bernd Leno last summer.
And a couple of months ago, the former Chelsea man announced that he would be retiring from professional football after this season.
The Blues have offered him a sporting director role at Stamford Bridge which means after playing against Sarri’s side, Petr Cech will go back to his former club.
And according to Jose Mourinho, he will be heading back home.
“I feel sorry for some Chelsea and Arsenal fans that they couldn’t find a way to be in Baku supporting their teams,” said Mourinho on Sky Sports(via The Mirror)
“It is Petr Cech’s last football match. I think it is the match you would choose if you could choose a match to retire.
“This would be the match and I’m pretty sure that before he comes home, it looks like he comes home, next season, to Chelsea, I think of course he would love to do it in a winning way because he is a winner. He’s won so many things.
“It looks like it’s the last match in blue for Eden Hazard.
“A player that was crucial for Chelsea’s success in this last generation and I think Eden will try to be what he is for the majority of the time, a fantastic player on the pitch, and win and go possibly – I don’t want to say more than possibly – to Real Madrid with a last trophy for Chelsea.
“More pressure of course for Arsenal because that season they play for a Champions League spot for next season, they play for many millions, they play for their pride, for their success of their season. So more pressure on the Arsenal side.”
While Petr Cech has been Unai Emery’s No 1 choice in the Europa League this season but there is a high probability that Bernd Leno might feature in front of goal when the Gunners take on Chelsea in Azerbaijan.
