Man United beat Cardiff City 5-1 in the Premier League last weekend and we saw the most attacking United side for a long time.

Jesse Lingard scored a brace while Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera all got a goal apiece to bag what was one of the easiest three points during this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer promised that his team would play the Man United way by being more adventurous and taking more risks up front.

And this was exactly what the fans witnessed during the game at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The players moved the ball around quickly and even the centre-backs Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof joined in on attack.

One big surprise during the game was Nemanja Matic – a player who has often been criticised by the United fans for being too slow.

Matic has had this habit of dwelling on the ball for an eternity and more often than not he was one responsible for slowing down attacks.

But then he was Jose Mourinho’s darling so no first-team lineup was complete without his in defensive midfield.

Against Cardiff though we saw a totally different Nemanja Matic – one who was willing to take risks.

And now Nemanja Matic has revealed what Solskjaer told the players before the Cardiff game.

“He had only two days with us but we had a few meetings,” Nemanja Matic said.

“He said we need to play more forward, to be more dangerous in attack, to run more, to compete with everything.

“And that’s exactly what we did today and we are happy because of that.”

United will now take on Huddersfield at home on Boxing Day and we have to see whether Solskjaer makes chooses to play Andreas Pereira in place of Nemanja Matic.
