Manager Thomas Tuchel could be without as many as seven first-team players for this Saturday’s Newcastle United vs Chelsea game.

The Blues are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table while Newcastle United are 19th on the table, failing to win even a single game so far.

But, this weekend’s game could be the window of opportunity which the Magpies need to pick up their first three-pointer this season. While we don’t expect the home side to pull the rabbit out of the hat but if they can keep the scoreline at 0-0 until the final quarter then there’s every chance of an upset.

Tuchel boasts one of the biggest squads in the English top division but still, he will be under some pressure to name his starting line-up for the Newcastle United vs Chelsea game.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea: Which players are ruled out?

Christian Pulisic has suffered a setback during his recovery process and the American international will not be fit in time to face Newcastle United.

While the manager has said that the setback is not too serious but the forward is not expected to feature on Saturday.

Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are the other two big-name players who are likely to be spectators for the Newcastle United vs Chelsea clash.

The pair picked up injuries in the 4-0 Malmo win and since then they have been on the sidelines. There’s very little chance they will be fully fit by the weekend.

Newcastle United vs Chelsea: Which players will be touch and go?

N’Golo Kante was not risked in midweek and we believe the Chelsea boss is going to take the same approach on Saturday as well.

The Frenchman picked up a muscle tightness in training last week and since Tuchel has Kovacic as a backup, Kante could get a watching brief at St James’ Park.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be another player who will likely go through a late fitness test to see if he is ready for Saturday’s game or not. But thankfully, the manager has ample backup in that area of the pitch.

Azpilicueta and Christensen both missed the Southampton game but the latest buzz suggests that they should be fit enough to be named in the matchday squad for the Newcastle United vs Chelsea encounter. It remains to be seen if they will start or not.

The manager told the press, as quoted: “Andreas needed to recover from tooth surgery and he should be back in training on Thursday if there are no complications.”
