Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares is doing really well out on loan at Marseille and Mikel Arteta has decided that it’s the right time to cash in on him.

The Gunners signed Tavares in 2021 from Benfica and last season, he managed to play 28 games for the club across all competitions. However, the arrival of Zinchenko meant that the left-back was surplus to requirements which is why he’s spending the current season on loan with the Ligue 1 team.

Tavares is playing as a left wing-back for Marseille and so far, he’s done remarkably well. He’s scored three goals in 10 league games for the club and currently, he is one of the best left wing-backs in Ligue 1.

Arsenal paid only £6.8 million last year but since his performances have been of the top level this season, Football London is claiming that the North London side will try and sell him for around £25 million.

Can Arsenal bag such a huge fee for Nuno Tavares?

Arsenal want more than three times what they paid for him in 2021 and since his current market value is £16 million, there’s every chance that the Gunners could bag such a huge profit.

Mikel Arteta has no use of the left-back so there’s no way he is coming back into the Arsenal squad next season and we don’t think even the player will want to join the Gunners and become the third-choice left-back after Zinchenko and Tierney.

There’s still a long way to go in this campaign but if the Portuguese can maintain this same level of performance until May then this £25 million price tag will become a very genuine possibility.

Nuno Tavares wanted to add an “option-to-buy” clause in his loan deal but Arsenal had blocked that attempt with means Marseille will have to shell out the big bucks if they wish to hold onto him.

However, if the 22-year-old keeps on performing like this then we are sure a lot of big clubs will show an interest in him.
