Chelsea brought in Olivier Giroud from Arsenal and since then the Frenchman has been a key part of the Blues frontline.

But during the current season, the World Cup winner seems to have taken a backseat as academy lad Tammy Abraham has been selected as the first choice striker by new boss Frank Lampard.

So far Olivier Giroud has featured in only 3 out of the 8 Premier League games this season and it is more or less clear that the striker will be used as a second-half substitute by the manager.

And this snub has given rise to many a rumour which claim that Olivier Giroud might be looking to move out of the club at the end of the season.

While speaking to the media, the Frenchman has now gone on to claim that while leaving Chelsea is not a priority but he will start searching for other options if he if needs to make a bold decision.

“I’m going to fight for my place in Chelsea. The coach knows it. And we will make the decision in January,” Giroud said(as reported by Goal).

“If I want to leave Chelsea? Not necessarily. But if I need to make a choice… I have some beautiful years in front of me. I’m 33, I still have legs and a good healthy lifestyle and I feel good physically.

“I want to have fun and want to play more games. Chelsea is my priority, but if in the end I’m forced to make a choice, I will do it as when I left Arsenal.

“[Lampard] will almost certainly watch the matches. In any case, I am going back to Chelsea pumped up.

“For different reasons, I have played little since the last national team break. Of course, it feels good to make the difference,”

So far Tammy Abraham has been in top form for the Blues which is the main reason why Olivier Giroud has been warming the bench. And unless the youngster sees a dip in form, we don’t expect to see the Frenchman’s name in the starting XI.

And with his current deal expiring at the end of the current season, we also do not expect Chelsea to offer him a new contract at the club.
