Chelsea have been repeatedly linked with a move for Barcelona misfit Philippe Coutinho who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich.

Philippe Coutinho made his dream move to Barcelona from Liverpool in January of 2018 but since then he has not been able to live up the hype which had forced the Catalans to pay €145 million for his services.

He has been on loan to Bayern Munich this season where he’s so far netted nine goals along with eight assists. And this is why there have been rumours about the Bavarians thinking of signing the player permanently during the summer.

Now though according to German journalist Christian Falk, who is the head of football at Sport Bild, the Bundesliga outfit are not keen on holding onto Philippe Coutinho.

He said in an interview: “No, Bayern won’t buy Coutinho.

“Anyone who wants to buy Coutinho won’t have to go to Bayern, but to Barcelona. After having struggled in both Germany and Spain, his value has decreased, so much so that the basis for negotiations should now be around €60 million.

The biggest problem, however, is that of his wages, which in Barcelona was worth €10 million a season.

“Not all clubs can afford such figures, especially with the crisis caused by the spread of the disease.”

This will be a massive boost for Chelsea but they too will be reluctant to pay such high wages for the players.

It’s being claimed Chelsea are already in advanced talks with Barcelona but right now the deal is being stalled because of two reasons.

The first is obviously the wages since the Blues do not want to bear the burden of the player’s full salary with the other problem being the buying clause.

While Barcelona are eager to add a permanent buying clause at the end of the loan deal, Lampard though is not willing to take that risk and wants only an optional clause.
