Ousmane Dembele to the Premier League

Ousmane Dembele has been a major flop for Barcelona and it seems the player could be heading to the English Premier League in the summer – as per reports.

The Frenchman joined Barcelona from Dortmund in 2017 but since then injuries have put a halt to his progress and this season he has managed to make only five appearances in the La Liga.

Barcelona paid an initial amount of £96.8 million for the services of the player but as per the Daily Mail, the Catalans are looking to cash in on him during the summer transfer window.

The report claims: “Manchester United and Arsenal are both reportedly weighing up a move for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele despite concerns over his injury woes.

“The Premier League clubs will also examine the reasons behind Dembele’s injury-plagued spell in LaLiga before making their interest official.”

The Daily Mail also claims Barcelona are willing to accept just £43 million in exchange of Ousmane Dembele which is why clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal are showing so much interest in him.

Is Ousmane Dembele worth the risk?

A couple of years ago, the youngster was one of the most sought-after players in the world but ever since moving to Barcelona his career graph seems to have taken a massive nosedive.

So while a fee of £43 million is undoubtedly a lucrative offer for a player who is just 22 years old but his long list of injuries will be a massive cause of concern for both Arsenal as well as Manchester United.

Also, Arsenal brought in Nicolas Pepe last summer for a massive transfer fee but the player is yet to open up his wings in the Premier League which is why Mikel Arteta will think long and hard before making a move for Ousmane Dembele who also happens to play in the same position.

Man United, on the other hand, are already chasing Jadon Sancho from Dortmund and as per some reports, the two parties have already made a verbal agreement which means Solskjaer might also decide to pull the plug on Dembele’s transfer.

It still remains to be seen if both these clubs move forward with this interest but we personally think Ousmane Dembele will not be joining either Manchester United or Arsenal not only because they do not need him right now but also because £43 million is too much for a hugely injury-prone player.
