Rangers dropped points vs Hearts this past weekend in the Premiership which means they have now slipped down to the second spot on the table.
And next up, the Teddy Bears travel to Portugal in order to take on FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
This will surely be a tough fixture for the Scottish side and before the match, Steven Gerrard has urged his players to not be mentally slack.
Gerrard said[as quoted by the Daily Star]: “It’s about mentality. It’s that realisation of the opportunity to win a football match.
“With all respect to Hearts, we should be fired up more than we were. We should be ready to compete, coming out of the blocks more focused.
“To be successful, we have to come to places like this and if we’re not there in an attacking sense, still compete and win ugly, 1-0.
“If we start like that against Porto, we could be in trouble. I know, when this team is tuned in, they can compete. They can win big matches on the road.
“That’s the reason why I’m frustrated now.
“If we’re to go to Ross County and Pittodrie and Livingston in the coming weeks, we’re going to have to start a lot better.
“We’re going to have to compete and fight – and rely on our game changers to perform.”
Rangers are in Group G of the Europa League and each team in this group has managed to pick up three points from their first two matches.
So clearly Matchweek 3 will be very crucial to decide the front two teams in the group meaning Rangers will have to atleast ensure a point vs Porto.
