The 2020/21 season of the English Premier League starts next weekend and the top-four predictions have started flowing in from all the major pundits in the United Kingdom.

After Gary Neville and Robbie Savage, it’s now Graeme Souness who has made his forecasts for the top-four of the Premier League.

The Sky Sports pundit has claimed that Liverpool should be able to defend their league title but this time, it will not be a walk in the park. And he has also added that Arsenal’s current buzz will eventually fizzle out.

Souness wrote in The Times: “As it stands, Liverpool are the favourites for the title, but I don’t see them running away with it again. I would have loved to have seen Lionel Messi come in at Manchester City.

“I expect a bigger challenge, though, from United and Chelsea this time. United will be better with Donny van de Beek, but the goalkeeping situation may be an issue.

“Chelsea have signed well, but let’s see how quickly Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz settle in. Arguably the best striker of the Premier League era, Thierry Henry, initially found it difficult.

“Beyond that, I don’t see a title challenger. People are making noises about Arsenal, but I don’t see them being strong enough. If you’re asking me now, that’s my top four for next May: Liverpool, City, United and Chelsea.”

Man United have improved drastically since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes and now with the signing of Donny van de Beek, the Red Devils might very well be title contenders.

Chelsea have also brought in some top-class players during the ongoing transfer window and Lampard is surely looking to challenge Liverpool for that top spot.

Arsenal, on the other hand, might have had a fairly decent run under Mikel Arteta over the past couple of months but we have to agree with Graeme Souness on this one.

The gap between the Emirates outfit and the other top six clubs in the Premier League clubs is just too huge to be able to claw down within a single season.
