Manchester City won the Premier League last season beating second-placed Liverpool by a single point.

Last summer almost every pundit had put their money on City winning the Premier League but what no one could have predicted was how much Jurgen Klopp’s men pushed the reigning champions.

But while the likes of Liverpool and Man City were battling out for the top spot, teams such as Arsenal and Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League as a result of which they will be playing in Europa League this season.

Chelsea won the Europa League final last season and will be playing in the UCL this time around but given that they have could not bring in any new players this summer, it would be very hard for them to hold onto that status.

And according to Danny Murphy, it will be Liverpool who will win the Premier League at the end of May primarily because Man City will be too engulfed in winning the Champions League.

“I think Liverpool will win the league this year,” Murphy told the Daily Mirror.

“Only one club had done it three times on the trot and I think Man City will be so Champions League focused.

“So I’m going with Liverpool, City and then Tottenham, I think they’ll take third.

“I actually think fourth will go to Man United. I think Chelsea will do all right and Frank Lampard is a great appointment.

“But United have gone big in the market and the quality they have in the final third – I mean there is doom and gloom around them, but I think they’ll surprise a few.”

Liverpool currently retain the top spot on the league table but some people feel that it will be really tough for them to replicate last season’s heroics and with City showing no signs of slowing down, Jurgen Klopp might have to be satisfied with a second-place finish once again.

But as far as the rest of the top four places are concerned, the race is wide open as all the other big names have tightened up the screws during the summer transfer window.
