The Premier League restart is just around the corner with multiple reports claiming that the authorities are planning to get things back on track by the 12th of June.

The UK government has allowed sporting events to resume from June 1 but given that EPL will need time to get everything into place, the organisers are not ready to push the resumption.

This is really positive news for all the footballing fans since now most of the big leagues in Europe are on the verge of returning back to action.

But this enthusiasm is not shared by all the Premier League clubs and their managers since a number of them have raised concerns over the safety of the players and their families.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters has revealed that most of the clubs are willing to resume the league but at the same time, everyone has underlined the importance of following the necessary safety procedures.

“Our priority will always be the safety of players, coaches and managers, staff, supporters, and the wider community,” he said.

“Nothing will be agreed until we have spoken to both the managers and players.”

The clubs are ready to put their players back on the pitch but the managerial world seems to be divided on this issue with some of the big managers not ready to risk their players just yet.

Premier League managers in favour of the Premier League restart:

  1. Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has been the most vocal about a restart and he’s gone on record to say that he cannot wait to get back to training.

Mourinho said, via The Mirror: “I don’t think my position in the meeting has been reflected fairly at all today in media reports. I have not asked for any delay.

“I want to train, and I am desperate for the Premier League to return as soon as it is safe to do so, particularly now we are seeing other leagues preparing to return to action. I am extremely proud of the way my players have maintained their fitness – they have shown great professionalism, passion and dedication.”

2. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is eager to get things up and running again but only when it is safe to do so. In March, the German had raised a lot of concerns as to why the English league was still on when the other European leagues had shut down but now it looks like he cannot wait to get back.

3. Everton FC boss Carlo Ancelotti is also in favour of a restart.

4. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not yet given his official statement but the Man United boss has made it clear the club will not force any of its players to return back to action against their will.

5. Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has also admitted he’s eager to return back to training.

“At the moment, I am just hoping that the season will start again, like so many others, and I must say that the players at our club I have spoken to are anxious to get back in whatever form we are allowed to get back, and I join them – and the staff join them – in that desire,” he said.

Premier League bosses opposing the idea:

  1. As per rumours, all of the clubs which are currently in the relegation zone of the Premier League are opposed to the idea of a restart – citing primarily safety concerns.

2. Watford FC manager Nigel Pearson is not too joyous about the resumption.

3. Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter is also opposed to this idea. The Seagulls are currently 15th on the league table just two points above the relegation zone.

4. Apart from the clubs in the bottom half of the table, Man City manager Pep Guardiola is also sceptical about restarting the Premier League so early.

5. Chelsea are fourth on the league table and their young boss Frank Lampard is also not too keen to get back on the field.
