Rafa Benitez is out of contract at Newcastle United at the end of the 2018-19 season and there are strong rumours that the former Liverpool boss might not be renewing his deal.
The 58-year-old took charge at Newcastle United after a failed stint with Real Madrid and since then he has done a wonderful job with the Magpies.
So far, Rafa Benitez has worked wonders with the Magpies but now it looks like he has his sights set on the Ligue 1.
While these rumours are not yet confirmed but some major publications are claiming that Rafa Benitez is planning to take charge of French club Lyon during the summer.
This after the current Newcastle boss signed a deal with French company Score Agencies to manage his interests in France.
Newcastle United are currently 14th on the Premier League table which means they will remain in the top flight next season too and one must say this is a job well done especially with the very meagre budget that Rafa Benitez has been operating on.
But on the other hand, Lyon are third on the Ligue 1 table and they have every chance of playing in the Champions League next season.
And to be honest, Rafa Benitez would love to get back into Europe and mingle with the big boys.
It still remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can manage to tie Rafe Benitez down with a new deal but we believe for that to happen, owner Mike Ashley would have to empty his pockets in the transfer market this summer.
