Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard is currently out in the market looking for a new defender and if reports are to be believed then the boss has made a bid for Tomas Kalas.

Tomas Kalas is a Chelsea centre-back who joined the club in 2010 but the 26-year-old has hardly featured for the Blues during the past nine years – mostly moving around on loan spells.

During the 2018-19 season, Kalas was out on loan to Bristol City and he ended up having a fine season in the Championship.

While many people were hoping that the player would be retained by Bristol City but unfortunately the loan deal did not have an option to buy which means that Tomas Kalas has once again returned back to Stamford Bridge.

But speaking about his future a couple of months ago, the defender made hinted that he wishes to leave Chelsea during the summer.

Kalas said: “Obviously I wish that I could find a club to settle down at for a long time, but I don’t really mind going on loans.

“Some people might hate me for that – not being in a certain place for longer than two seasons but because I adapt quite quickly and I’m easy going, any team, and because I’m not big-headed or arrogant or stuff like that, even though I’m changing teams I feel like I’m at home at every team I come to.

“So that’s not really a problem”

Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea do not want to hold onto the player any more and are open to selling him off during the summer.

Bristol City are obviously the frontrunners to signing him but now it looks like Gerrard’s bid might just derail all the progress made by the Championship side.

The final decision will obviously rest on Tomas Kalas but since he is currently on international duty with the Czech Republic we believe he will only make a decision once he returns back.
