Rangers had a pretty fine season under Steven Gerrard but despite all the positiveness, Celtic managed a clean sweep of all the silverware.

While many people have claimed that the Bhoys will continue to dominate the Premiership next season as well but they have also added that Rangers will pose a much more robust test to their Old Firm rivals.

Steven Gerrard is already in the process of strengthening his squad for the next campaign and Andy Halliday is confident that the Gers can work some magic this time around.

But while speaking about, Rangers’ challenge to Celtic, Halliday also chose to praise Neil Lennon and the work that he has done the previous season.

Here’s why:

“Celtic are still favourites for the title. They won the league again last year and had a bit of a cushion,” Halliday said.

“But I can only speak from a Rangers player’s point of view and say it’s the most confident I’ve been going into a season.

“We improved last year and with the signings we’ve made so far, we’re already improving the squad.

“I also know first hand that we’ve got the right man in the manager’s job and the right backroom staff to make a title challenge. I can’t speak for Celtic because I’m not in their changing room every day.

“I don’t know the relationships their players had with Brendan Rodgers compared to Neil Lennon. You have to give Neil credit because he came in and got them over the line.

“The two targets he had since taking over, he achieved it.

“We just have to concentrate on ourselves and try to bridge that points gap again from last season.”

Neil Lennon certainly steadied the ship after Brendan Rodgers chose to join Leicester City late last season.

But many Bhoys fans are a bit sceptical about Lennon especially since Rangers are being managed by Steven Gerrard – a personality who is world famous.

The Celtic fans fear that any common transfer target will most certainly choose to work under Gerrard at Rangers just like Joe Aribo chose to move to Ibrox despite heavy interest from Neil Lennon’s side.
