Rangers FC finished the 2018-19 Premiership season on the second spot – nine points behind winners Celtic FC.

But many pundits expect, Steven Gerrard’s men to challenge for the domestic title next season especially since the amount of positive work that he has done ever since taking charge last summer.

The Gers boss is also expected to bring in a number of new players during the transfer window and some rumours that that just like last summer, Gerrard will go out and sign a flurry of players.

Former Rangers man Charlie Adam though thinks otherwise.

“I hope there’s a challenge,” Adam told BBC Radio 5 Live(as reported).

“The challenge was up to a point at Christmas where they were level on points and it was going in the right direction. Inconsistencies since then. It cost Rangers getting closer to Celtic.

“Rangers have been on a great run recently and I think if you look at Steven [Gerrard] and how he has done this season, he’s done a good job and he’s got a good squad, but he’ll be looking for a better quality next season.

“I don’t see Rangers bringing seven or eight players in. I can see them bringing in three or four maximum of better quality players that can take Rangers to the next level again and give Celtic a proper challenge.

“Going next season, it’ll be a totally different game from Rangers. They’ll understand how they can play.

“But with Celtic anything can happen with Dermot Desmond’s money.

“He could bring a rabbit out of the hat. They can bring one of the big ones in – whether it’d be a player or manager. I think Celtic have a bigger re-building job this summer than Rangers do.”
