Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers FC made a wonderful start to the 2018-19 Premiership season and the fans were sure that Steven Gerrard would be able to deliver the league title by the end of the season.

But as the months have moved by, the manager’s aura has faded away.

The Gers have lost unnecessary points which have, in turn, helped Celtic to climb back to the top of the table despite making a few mistakes themselves.

And now Rangers find themselves six points adrift their Glasgow rivals.

On top of that, the third and fourth teams on the table are agonisingly close to them and one mishap could mean that Gerrard men could even fall out of the top three.

Aberdeen are third on the league table with 46 points while Kilmarnock are on 45 points.

As luck would have it, Rangers will face both these clubs this week itself and Borna Barisic feels these two games are must-wins for their side.

“It’s a very important seven days for us,” Barisic said, as quoted by the Newsletter.

“Aberdeen in midweek and Kilmarnock in the Cup – but we are full of confidence after this result. We will go to Aberdeen and try to win.

“I am always positive, I always want to win. If I didn’t think we could win the title, I wouldn’t play football “If we are to become champions then we need to go to places like Aberdeen and win.

“If we win the next two games, I think that would set us up very well for the rest of the season. It would give us a great deal of mental belief.”

Rangers will face Aberdeen in midweek and a loss in that game will mean that Aberdeen will leapfrog over the Gers into the second spot.

Then the Teddy Bears travel to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. Even though this is a cup game but a loss in this game could seriously dent the confidence of all the Rangers players.
